Schools and School Districts in Spring Hill

The city of Spring Hill, Tennessee, is a dynamic community located 35 miles south of Nashville’s downtown neighborhoods. It’s served by a dynamic range of schools, each contributing to the educational landscape of the area. These schools, operated by two public school districts and supplemented by private options, offer diverse educational experiences from elementary to high school levels. Public School Districts Serving Spring Hill

Spring Hill is bisected by the county line between Maury County and Williamson County, TN. That complicates matters a little bit for parents since the city is served by two public school districts. Maury County Public Schools serves students who live south of the county line. Williamson County Schools serves those living north of the county line in the city of Thompson's Station. 

Three of the schools serving Spring Hills are technically within the town limits of Columbia, TN. To figure out the feeder schools and school boundaries, households can either check addresses against the Maury County Public Schools Master Street List or call the district at (931) 388-8403.

Private Schools Near Spring Hill

Spring Hill Christian Academy is a private, Protestant Christian school located in the southwest part of the town. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 10:1, it is a small school with a student body of fewer than 100 kids. Spring Hill Christian Academy serves K–6 students.

Agathos Classical School is a very similar Christian school located in the nearby city of Columbia. It is about a 15- to 20-minute commute south of Spring Hill. It serves students from preschool through Grade 12. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 9:1, Agathos has approximately 330 students.

Columbia Academy at Spring Hill is another private Christian-based school. It serves children in pre-K (starting at age 3) through Grade 6. When students complete Grade 6, they can transfer to the Columbia Academy Upper School in Columbia. In addition to religious instruction and the regular Tennessee standard coursework, Columbia Academy offers extracurricular activities like Choir, Robotics Club, Science Club, and a Mock Trial Team.

Primrose School of Spring Hill is a private school and daycare that serves about 175 children. The daycare is available as early as the infant and toddler stages, and students can attend preschool and kindergarten. Kids learn age-appropriate subjects, including numbers, letters, simple Spanish, and music. They also get to learn how to care for a garden by growing plants and vegetables.

Colleges & Universities Near Spring Hill

While there are no colleges in Spring Hill itself, students have several options that are just a short drive away from the town. Here are some of the options. Columbia State Community College is located about 16 miles south of Spring Hill. It is a public two-year college with around 5,900 students enrolled each year. The school offers more than 70 programs of academic study. Students can earn certificates or an associate's degree in Arts, Science, Teaching, Fine Arts, or Applied Science.

Most Columbia State students who want to pursue a bachelor's degree transfer to Middle Tennessee State University, one of the schools in Murfreesboro and located about 45 minutes from Spring Hill. It has around 17,000 undergrad students and 2,600 graduate students. Middle Tennessee offers more than 300 degree programs. One of the most popular ones, due to its proximity to Nashville and the music industry, is the Department of Recording Industry in the College of Media and Entertainment. It's considered one of the top music business programs in the country, and slots for entry are limited.

Lipscomb University is one of the closest Nashville universities to Spring Hill, located in the bigger city’s Green Hills community. It's about a 40-minute or 33-mile commute north of Spring Hill. Lipscomb has about 3,000 undergraduates and 1,800 graduate students. This private Christian university offers Bible and Ministry degrees, though it has expanded over the years to offer many additional academic programs. Also, sports are an important part of the school’s culture. In fact, several graduates of Lipscomb's baseball team have gone on to play for Major League teams professionally.
