Schools and School Districts in Clarksville

The city of Clarksville is located about 50 miles northwest of Downtown Nashville on the Tennessee-Kentucky border. Like with any move, people moving to Clarksville will want to know the educational options available here. One school district manages the public schools for all of Montgomery County, and there are also several nearby private schools, colleges, and universities. Here is a closer look at Clarksville schools and the local school district.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System

Clarksville is the only major town in Montgomery County, making school zoning easy. There is one school district here: the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS). All students who live in homes near CMCSS schools more than 1.5 miles from their assigned school can use the district bus system. The district uses a bus tracker system with StopFinder, so parents can always know where their child's bus is located in real-time.

Finding public schools for any Clarksville or Montgomery County address is simple using their InfoFinder website, even for families that purchase Clarksville new construction homes that are technically outside city limits. Type in an address and zip code to obtain a list of zoned schools for that address.

CMCSS has 23 elementary schools, eight middle schools, and seven high schools. The district also operates the Moore Magnet STEM School, a Pre-K through Grade 5 elementary school that focuses heavily on STEM coursework. The district's K-12 Virtual School allows students to get a complete public school education, up through graduation, in a homeschool setting.

Each of the eight traditional high schools in Clarksville offers interest-driven academies for students interested in specific college tracks. For example, West Creek High School has academies for Law & Criminal Justice and Teaching & Learning, while Clarksville High School offers an academy focused on Business and Marketing. The district's Early Technical College allows students to work toward certification in specific industries while earning their high school diploma. The programs include Diesel Powered Machinery, IEMM, HVAC, Nursing, and Pharmacy Technology.
