Juliet was formed in 1835 and incorporated as a city in 1972. According to the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce, the name of the town has two explanations. One is that it was given its name due to Julia Gleaves, a very-well known woman in the community, and the other that it was for the Mt. Juliet Estate, a manure house.
