Home to numerous beautiful trails and parks, the city of Brentwood—located a mere 10 miles south of Nashville—is a paradise for outdoor activities like hiking, jogging, and biking. The city offers impressive walking and jogging trails of varying difficulty levels, lengths, and terrain so everyone can enjoy Tennessee's diverse natural beauty.

Mossy Ridge Trail

Mossy Ridge Trail is a 5.5-mile loop located in the heart of Percy Warner Park. The moderately challenging dirt trail has 948 feet of elevation gain. It is rarely flat, and some sections are steep and rocky.

Red blazes mark the main trail, but several side trails are also available to explore. Hikers can find an old chimney, Quiet Point, and an overlook perfect for observing the park's beauty. Most of the route is shaded by trees, making it a superb place for catching fall foliage or bird watching.

Leashed dogs are welcome throughout Percy Warner Park. Warner Parks also have a dog park, a Nature Center, and several athletic fields.

Mossy Ridge Trail is just northwest of Brentwood. This area features sizable luxury homes in some of Brentwood's most expensive neighborhoods, like Devonshire Manor, Middleton, and Wildwood. Many homes in the area boast elegant brickwork, large yards, and attached garages capable of housing multiple vehicles.

The trail's Deep Well Trailhead is also less than five minutes from many of the shops and restaurants in Belle Meade.

Radnor Lake Trail

Radnor Lake Trail is an easy 2.7-mile loop located in Radnor Lake State Park. Park maps divide the trail into three sections: the 0.25-mile Spillway Trail, the 1.35-mile Lake Trail, and the 1.05-mile Otter Creek Road.

All sections of the trail are ADA accessible, but Otter Creek Road is the only paved stretch. Spillway Trail and Lake Trail consist of mulch and gravel. Dog walking, cycling, and running are welcome on Otter Creek Road but prohibited on other parts of the trail to help preserve the natural environment.

Radnor Lake Trail has several observation points offering excellent views of the lake, including Spillway Bridge. Hikers often encounter wildlife like turkeys, deer, chipmunks, turtles, and armadillos on this trail.

Radnor Lake State Park is just north of Brentwood. It is close to shops like REI, Kroger, and Publix. Nearby neighborhoods like Valley View, Brentwood Trace, and Brentwood Villa offer attractive brick townhouses, ranch-style homes, and some of Brentwood's luxury homes.

Marcella Vivrette Blue Trail

Marcella Vivrette Blue Trail is a 2.3-mile loop that provides access to all the trails within Marcella Vivrette Smith Park, one of Brentwood's best parks. The well-marked trail offers a diverse terrain with rocky hills, wooded forests, and grassy fields.

Some steep inclines and heavily rutted areas with exposed roots make this trail a moderately challenging hike. Hiking poles can help with navigating downhill sections, especially when the route is muddy after rain.

There is a restroom available at the trailhead. Additionally, the overlook near the beginning of the trail offers picnic tables and a color-blind viewfinder. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Marcella Vivrette Smith Park is near the southern end of Brentwood, less than 15 minutes from the numerous shops and restaurants of Cool Springs Galleria and Thoroughbred Village. Several of Brentwood's best neighborhoods are nearby, including Carriage Hills, Raintree Forest, and Morgan Farms; these communities offer stately brick and stone colonial revival-style homes and townhomes.

Brenthaven Bikeway Connector Trail

Brenthaven Bikeway Connector Trail stretches nearly 4 miles from River Park to Smith Park. Following the paved trail out and back results in a 7.9-mile round trip. Restrooms are available at both ends of the route and at Primm Park, about halfway along the trail.

Most of the trail has a gentle grade, making it a relatively easy route. However, elevation changes on the trail's southern half can make that part of the route more challenging.

Much of the Brenthaven Bikeway Connector Trail follows the Little Harpeth River through shaded forests and a couple of tunnels. Wide paths make it easy for bikes to pass others on the route. Leashed dogs are also welcome on the trail.

The Brenthaven Bikeway Connector Trail is close to many picturesque neighborhoods, including Hallbrook, Twin Springs, Brenthaven, Crockett Cove, and Carriage Hills. These subdivisions offer colonial revival-style homes, traditional ranch-style homes, and some of Brentwood's new construction homes in more contemporary styles. Like other Brentwood homes, homes in this area are often large and feature elegant brickwork.

Warner Woods Trail

Warner Woods Trail is another 2.8-mile loop located in Percy Warner Park. Hikers can access it from the Belle Mead Trailhead off Belle Meade Boulevard or the Deep Well Trailhead, where Mossy Ridge Trail also begins. Look for white blazes where the two trails diverge.

Like the longer Mossy Ridge Trail, frequent and steep elevation changes make Warner Woods Trail a moderately challenging route. While some parts of the trail have pavement, most sections are dirt. Additionally, some sections are as narrow as 2 feet across. Following the path counter-clockwise can offer a more challenging workout.

As its name suggests, Warner Woods Trail passes through a pleasantly shaded forest. It follows Salt Creek, allowing trail goers to experience Tennessee's natural beauty without straying too far from the city. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trail.

The Belle Meade Trailhead is just a few minutes from numerous businesses and restaurants on Highway 70. The Belle Meade area features sprawling estates, ranch-style homes, and cozy Tudor-style homes.

Percy Warner Paved Trail

Also located in Percy Warner Park, Percy Warner Paved Trail offers a 5.8-mile and an 11.2-mile loop. The different routes are marked with signs, allowing trail goers to customize their journey.

Smooth asphalt makes this trail accessible to cyclists. However, the paved trail is still a moderately challenging route due to its relatively steep grade. Benches along the shaded path provide plenty of opportunities to rest and relax in nature.

Percy Warner Paved Trail connects to most other trails in Percy Warner Park, including the Mossy Ridge and Warner Woods trails. A short spur leads to the Luke Lea Heights overlook, boasting an incredible view of homes in downtown Nashville.

Dogs on leashes are welcome throughout Percy Warner Park. There is also a dog park in Edwin Warner Park nearby.

Trail goers can access the Percy Warner Paved Trail from the Belle Meade, Deep Well, or Chickering Road Trailheads. Nearby neighborhoods like Devonshire Manor, Belle Meade, and Harpeth Trace feature expansive homes with beautiful brickwork and sizable estates.
