Murfreesboro Most Affordable Neighborhoods

The city of Murfreesboro is Nashville's largest suburb and has been one of the fastest-growing cities in the country since the 1990s. With a rich history, a thriving cultural scene, and an expanding parks system, it's no surprise the former state capital is such a popular place to live. Despite the construction of new homes and so many people moving to Murfreesboro, housing remains relatively affordable, with many areas boasting sizable homes for under $400,000. The most affordable neighborhoods in Murfreesboro offer beautiful homes close to attractions like parks, golf courses, schools, shops, and restaurants without blowing the budget.

Meadowgreen

Meadowgreen is a quiet Murfreesboro suburb featuring affordable midsize homes just minutes from parks, shops, and restaurants.

Most homes in Meadowgreen are red brick ranches from the 1950s, but some properties have seen a paint job since then. Meadowgreen homes typically have three bedrooms and a generously sized yard with several trees for shade. Home prices in the neighborhood can range from the high $100s to the mid-$300s.

At the southern end of Hunt Street, Roger's Park boasts 7.5 acres of sports facilities and green space for outdoor recreation. A playground, a soccer field, tennis courts, and basketball courts offer opportunities for exercise, while covered picnic pavilions provide space for outdoor gatherings.

Meadowgreen is almost entirely residential but close to several shopping centers, allowing its residents to access some of the best shopping in Murfreesboro while remaining relatively isolated from traffic. Bradyville Pike to the neighborhood's south offers several Latin grocers and restaurants, including the highly popular Taqueria Lupita. These businesses provide Meadowgreen residents quick access to hard-to-source culinary ingredients and authentically prepared Mexican cuisine. Meanwhile, South Rutherford Boulevard offers chain stores and restaurants like Cook Out and Jet's Pizza.

Bellwood

Located just outside downtown, Bellwood offers affordable homes close to some of Murfreesboro's best attractions.

Most homes in Bellwood were built in the late 50s and early 60s. While most of the neighborhood's brick ranches are single-family homes, many residences are duplexes. The majority of the homes for sale in Bellwood are medium to large and feature sizable lawns—prices in the neighborhood range from the high $200s to the high $500s.

Bellwood's convenient location close to downtown allows residents quick access to some of Murfreesboro's best attractions. Just north of Bellwood, the Discovery Center features more than a dozen exhibits designed to help guests engage with science. The children's museum also offers camps, programs, and other events covering various STEAM-related topics.

The adjacent Murfree Spring Wetlands area offers even more learning opportunities. The free 25-acre park was once a water treatment plant but now hosts an extensive boardwalk. Interpretive signage along the path helps visitors learn about the wetlands' ecosystem while exploring the park.

Bellwood is also just a few minutes from Mayday Brewery, an all-ages venue serving craft beer and pizza. Near-daily events like live music, classes, and bingo help make the brewery a popular space for the community to come together.

Located on the northwestern outskirts of Murfreesboro, Florence Pointe is a secluded neighborhood with affordable traditional-style homes.

Most single-family homes in Florence Pointe were built between 2004–2007. Many have two stories and attached garages capable of housing one to two vehicles. A collection of two-story Murfreesboro townhomes on Chelanie Circle and Octavia Street were added to the neighborhood between 2016–2017. Homes in Florence Pointe are medium to large and generally sell from the mid-$300s to the high $600s.

Driving in Murfreesboro is typically a breeze, and Florence Pointe's location on the northwest edge of town puts it closer to the city of Nashville than any other neighborhood in the city. Its proximity to I-24 and I-840 makes it easy to quickly get on the road heading into Murfreesboro or the state capital. Additionally, Florence Pointe's relatively rural surroundings offer residents easy access to local agricultural products. The nearby Batey Farms sells farm fresh pork, pick-your-own strawberries, and other artisan goods from local farms.

Southeast of the neighborhood, a shopping center just off I-24 provides Florence Pointe residents with a place to get food and stock up on other essentials without going into town. It features a Walmart, several chain restaurants, and local favorites like Blue Coast Burrito.

Homes in Quail Run typically sell from the mid-$300s. Most homes in the community are medium- to large-sized ranches, although the neighborhood also has some two-story houses. Lakeview Heights

Overlooking Todds Lake, Lakeview Heights offers affordable homes that benefit from a lush natural setting while providing quick access to many of the things to do in Murfreesboro, in addition to shops, services, and restaurants.

Lakeview Heights consists primarily of ranches and split-level homes from the 60s and 70s. Most homes were constructed using bricks, but various brick colors and the incorporation of vinyl siding in the split-level homes add visual interest. Despite the neighborhood's excellent lakeside location, homes for sale in Lakeview Heights range from the high $200s to the mid-$300s.

Todds Lake is the product of businessman and state politician Andrew Lee Todd's efforts to convince the US Veterans Administration to build a hospital on his land in the 1930s. Although the VA chose another site, Todd still created the lake as a cattle watering hole and fishing spot before he died in 1945. The lake is still a popular fishing location, home primarily to largemouth bass.

On the other side of the lake lies Kensington Place Shopping Center, which includes Publix, banks, and other services. Across South Rutherford Boulevard, residents can find even more businesses, including several chain restaurants, a gas station, and Somboun's Asian Market, which offers fresh produce and snacks that are difficult to find elsewhere.
