Where Are the Best Paddleboarding Locations in Nashville?

Stand-up paddleboarding or SUP has become very popular as a hobby and as a way to get exercise. Even though Nashville isn't near the ocean, this activity has become very popular throughout the city. Part of the reason for the popularity is the fact that it can be performed without needing waves or even a current. Here are a few of the places you can enjoy paddling away in Nashville.

Nashville Paddle

As far as rates for stand-up paddleboarding go, Nashville Paddle is the cheapest. They also have a number of locations and they donate some of the profits to the Cumberland River Compact. Locations for Nashville Paddle include:

  • Cumberland River
  • Percy Pried Lake
  • Old Hickory Lake
  • Stones Rivers

The cost for SUP here is $35 for 2 hours, $60 for a half-day or $85 for the entire day.

SUP Music City

Another choice for paddleboarding is SUP Music City. They rent and sell paddleboards, but you cannot use their equipment until you've taken a lesson. Locations for SUP Music City include the Smith Springs Recreation Areas and Percy Priest Lake's Hamilton Creek Sailboat Marina. They provide a 1-2 hour rate of $35, a half-day rate of $80 and a full day rate of $110.

Paddle Up Nashville

You can also use the Paddle Up Nashville choice for your SUP needs. They provide lessons, boards for purchase and rentals. You can find them located in the Rock Harbor Marina. Rates are $25 for one hour, $40 for two hours, $75 for four hours and $120 for 24 hours.

Big Willie's Action Sports

Found on the riverfront in downtown Nashville, take a stand up paddle boarding tour with Big Willie's Action Sports. Begin your adventure in East Nashville starting at Shelby Park and enjoy the three mile down river tour, ending in lower Broadway. The tour takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, with a nice ride along the Cumberland River. End your tour in the heart of downtown, and take in the sites of this happening area. Watch for turtles and blue heron along your trip. Water and snacks are included.

Soulshine SUP

If you want to enjoy paddle fitness classes, this is the place for you. They also include SUP Yoga and PaddleFit. Rates are $30 for two hours and $150 for groups of size or more for two hours.
