The Best Standard Golf in Nashville

Of course, miniature golf isn't the only option for people who want to get their fix of golf course fun in Nashville. With Music City offering many courses that provide a challenge, it can be difficult to find the right one for your needs. Here are some of the top golf courses in Nashville to choose from this season.

Through the Green/Highland Rim Golf Course - 1725 New Hope Road, Joelton

This beautiful course provides something you cannot find everywhere. The 18-hole championship golf course is found within limestone bluffs and has many natural features, such as waterfalls and rolling hills. Not only is it a challenge but it's also a course full of beauty. Make sure to bring your camera.

Nashboro Golf Club - 1101 Nashboro Boulevard, Nashville

Known as a very challenging course, the Nashboro Golf Club is mature and perfect for low handicap golfers. If you’re just learning, you may want to find an easier course, however. The tight fairways and the thick rough make this a fun and challenging course. The greens are always in great shape and the ball rolls true to the hole.

Ironhorse Course at Legends Club of Tennessee - 1500 Legends Club Lane, Franklin

As a members-only club, you won't be able to get on this one very easily. However, if you have the opportunity, make sure you take advantage. The Ironhorse Corse is one of the best in the city and provides a golf experience unlike any other.

Golf BallGolf season is about to get started all across the county and Nashville has plenty to offer. Many of the best golf courses in the state of Tennessee are found in or near the Music City. Here are some of the best choices for golfers to enjoy this season.

Hermitage Golf Course - 3939 Old Hickory Boulevard, Old Hickory

This pristine golf course provides one of the best choices in the area. It's an award-winning choice with two 18-hole public course challenging players of all skill level. The General's Retreat course provides an amazing view of the Cumberland River, while the President's Reserve provides a look at the Tennessee wetlands. If you love golf, Hermitage Golf Course is a must play.

Richland Country Club - 1 Club Drive, Nashville

Found between Green Hills and Brentwood, this country club is one of the better ones you will find in Nashville. The fairways and greens are well-kept and the Jack Nicklaus course provides quite the challenge. Mature trees line the fairways and it takes a good tee shot to reach the fast greens in regulation.

Cedar Creek Sports Center - 10770 Lebanon Road, Mount Juliet

You can definitely get your “putt-putt” on at the Cedar Creek Sports Center. You’ll find two separate 18-hole mini golf courses at the sprawling 16.5-acre facility. It’s a great place to come for an impromptu family outing or a planned birthday bash. In fact, Cedar Creek offers kids’ party packages that include a private party room -- complete with party favors and other goodies -- along with mini golf for the attendees, and extra tokens for the game room! Other attractions at the Cedar Creek complex include a golf teaching facility, lighted driving range, pool with bumper boats, a huge go-kart track, indoor baseball facility, as well as both baseball and softball batting cages. The colorful arcade-style game room boasts family-friendly video games.

The City Forum - 2231-T Madison Street, Clarksville

In the mood for mini golf -- but looking for something a little sleeker than the usual clown course? The City Forum in nearby Clarksville is for you. The giant indoor space also boasts laser tag, bowling, and go-karts. After playing, you can check out the Forum’s cafe, or its separate pub with adults-only beverages. As for the 18-hole course itself, the mini golf area is impressively decorated with giant boulders, fountains, garden-like spaces, and rock walls. It’s the perfect place to go on those cold, rainy days. Come with your kids, or grab a gang of friends and follow up a few holes with a few pints!

Nashboro Golf Club - 1101 Nashboro Boulevard, Nashville

Golfers looking for the ultimate challenge need to head to the Nashboro Golf Course, this course will give all golfers a challenge with tight fairways, beautiful greens and plenty of trees making it hard to recover if you miss the fairway.

Other excellent golf courses found around Nashville

  • Through the Green/Highland Rim Golf Course - 1725 New Hope Road, Joelton
  • Ironhorse Course at Legends Club of Tennessee - 1500 Legends Club Lane, Franklin
  • Harpeth Hills Golf Course - 2424 Old Hickory Boulevard, Nashville

All of these courses provide plenty of challenge and a beautiful look at what Nashville has to offer.

The above are just our own personal favorites when it comes to golfing in Nashville and we're sure that you'll like them as much as we do.

Even though Nashville isn't a city you'd instantly identify as being one where golf is popular you'll be surprised to find that it is. In fact several of the parks in the city have golf courses of varying sizes within them. On top of that the city and county planners have made an ongoing commitment to maintaining as many green spaces as possible, both within downtown Nashville and in the suburbs, and the existence of a number of excellent golf course homes nearby is just part of that overall plan.
