The holiday season can be a hectic and busy time, but that doesn't mean that those in Nashville can't take time to celebrate as a community. Residents and visitors alike delight in the festivities of this merry time of year, as there are plenty of Nashville holiday events to enjoy.
These are a few of the best holiday events in Nashville:
Rudolph's Red Nose Run 5K
This holiday-themed race leads the way for the Nashville Christmas Parade. Rudolph's Red Nose Run 5K will take place this year at 7:30 a.m. on December 1, and participants are encouraged to wear their best red-nosed reindeer costumes. Rudolph himself will be available on-site for photo opportunities, and there's a dog costume contest for those who bring their four-legged pals out to the event. Proceeds from the race will benefit Needlink Nashville, and participants will receive holiday-themed treats after completing the race. Those who are interested in running this race can register in advance. Race headquarters will be located at Nissan Stadium in Downtown Nashville.
Nashville Christmas Parade
Following Rudolph's Red Nose Run 5K is the Nashville Christmas Parade, perhaps one of the most beloved holiday events in the city. This year's parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. on December 1 at the corner of North 1st Avenue and Brandon Street in Downtown Nashville. The floats that will be a part of the 2018 parade include Christmas trains, a Christmas plaza complete with a fountain, a gingerbread house and a zoo animal float, to name a few. There also will be many musical performances throughout the parade, including Janice Gaines and the Street Corner Symphony. Anyone can line up along the parade route to watch the floats go by, but those who want the most comfortable seating can purchase TV Performance Zone Tickets in advance.
Cirque Dreams Holidaze
As part of the Gaylord Opryland's Country Christmas, Cirque Dreams Holidaze will be performing throughout the holiday season in Nashville. Performances will be held from November 16 through December 28 at the Grand Ole Opry House. Using the traditional techniques of Cirque du Soleil, this performance adds a festive flair with flying snowmen, reindeer, toy soldiers and more. The stunts, as always, will be inspiring and amazing to audiences of all ages. It is recommended that those who are interested in witnessing this holiday spectacular purchase tickets in advance, as it is expected to be popular.
Ice! Featuring Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Another holiday event that is included as part of the Gaylord Opryland's Country Christmas is Ice! Featuring Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This event takes place from November 9 through January 1, 2019 at the Gaylord Opryland Events Center. Visitors who attend this event will maneuver their way through dozens of intricate ice sculptures featuring the characters from this beloved holiday tale. More than 2 million pounds of ice were used to bring the colorful creations to life. In addition to the larger-than-life ice sculptures, children will have the opportunity to slide down four different ice slides at the event. Tickets for this event can be purchased in advanced.
Whether celebrating the holiday season with young children who are soaking up the magic, or simply enjoy the festivities in a merry, adult way, there's something for everyone in Nashville. These events are sure to create holiday memories that will last a lifetime.
