Things to Do in Nashville on Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend is upon us and if you're going to be spending the last weekend of May here in Nashville, here's a quick look at a few events and happening taking place all over town:

Vietnam Veterans Wall

The traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall will make a stop in Nashville over Memorial Day Weekend, giving locals a chance honor fallen heroes and pay tribute to all 58,272 names on the memorial. The wall will be brought to the Nashville National Cemetery, which will also host a ceremonial program at 1 p.m. that will include music and a speech from the director of Operation Stand Down, Col. John Krenson.

SuperCoolFunFest

A tribute to the 90s, SuperCoolFunFest is one of Nashville's most anticipated events this summer. Featuring My So Called Band and a MTV Spring Break Dance Party, what more could you ask for during a fun-filled Memorial Day Weekend party? Beer tents, food trucks, and plenty of live music will all be part of the celebration at Cumberland Park on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. Ticket prices range from $8 to $69.95.

Glow Ride ll

Swing over to the Parthenon on Friday around 7 p.m. for a "glow-tastic" cruise through Midtown and Downtown Nashville. A sequel to the original Glow Ride, any willing participant is invited to cover their bikes in glow sticks and enjoy a slow 5 to 6 mile ride through the heart of Music City. And the best part? It's FREE to ride!

Blake Shelton Exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame

Given we live in Nashville, no weekend full of fun is complete without at least a little taste of county music. And if you're a fan of Blake Shelton, one of the genre's biggest stars, swing over to the brand new "Blake Shelton: Based on a True Story" exhibit, which will debut on Friday.

Nashville Balloon Festival

You can go to the Nashville Balloon Festival to experience the city from a whole new perspective. This festival gives you ample opportunities to catch a ride in a colorful hot air balloon and connect with your community. To truly wow the crowds, the event promoters have a wide range of balloon designs, including popular cartoon characters. You can choose between regular and tethered rides to enjoy the balloons on your own terms. Between rides, you can keep busy by visiting all the amazing food and retail vendors set up across the venue. There will also be many other fun activities for all ages to enjoy.

Memorial Day Dash 5K

The summer season and 5Ks seem to go hand-in-hand, so it only makes sense for a 5K to take place on the unofficial first weekend of summer. Nashville's Memorial Day Dash 5K will wind its way around historic Fort Negley and through the Nashville City Cemetery, and prizes will be handed out to runners with the most patriotic outfit. The race starts on Saturday at 7:30 and tickets to participate are just $35.
