Southgate Children’s Academy is a great option for childcare in the area. It’s a locally-owned and operated childcare Academy that focuses on a strong sense of community, learning about music, art, fitness and play. It caters to 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten in the heart of Cool Springs. It sits on a quiet, private cul de sac across the New Song Church at 315 Southgate Court in Brentwood.

If you love the idea of childcare in which children are cared for in small ratios, with a large infant/toddler playground separated by age, art, music, Kid Fit and Spanish included in your child’s care, Southgate might be perfect for you.

About Southgate

Southgate joined the childcare scene in 2002 as an independent, local and family-owned school emphasizing a strong sense of community. They serve 96 children with a high rating in the community and a license from the Department of Human Services. It’s a small facility making it cozy and homey for the children. Their mission is to provide the highest quality of care for young children by teaching them through play in a loving environment.

Parent participation is strongly encouraged as SCA is an active parent organization. Many referrals come from existing and past families meaning an extensive parent reference list is always available. In addition to daily care, enjoy Teacher Appreciation Week and Fall Fest in which you can take part in an open forum for ideas and discussion while special events are held annually like the Spring Egg Hunt, Father’s Day Celebration and Saturday Parents Night or Day Out.

The curriculum at SCA varies by age to meet behavioral and social needs and goals. Infants that are ages 6 weeks to 15 months will work on baby sign language and baby yoga with 4 infants to 1 teacher ratio in order to reduce overstimulation and exposure to illness.

Toddlers will work on developing social skills, gross and fine motor skills and great independence with a ratio of 6:1 or 7:1 depending on age. Preschool students will be separated on 9:1 or 10:1 ratios for ages 3 to 6. Your child will be prepared for kindergarten academically and socially in this program.

Being located in Williamson County in the Cool Springs area adjacent to Brentwood and Franklin, SCA is in the perfect location since the top five employers in the county are within five miles. You can access it by the highway since it’s only 1 mile to I-65. Check it out if you live in Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood or other nearby cities.
