It is located at 610 49th Avenue North in vibrant Nashville Tennessee. The faculty and staff of The Academy at Old Cockrill School is currently headed by Principal Bill Warren and was launched in 2009 in an effort to offer a place for those students who struggle in traditional scholastic settings. Today The Academy at Old Cockrill School is proud to have assisted more than 660 students in achieving their goals of obtaining their high school diploma. While many schools pride themselves on a more traditional core curriculum and setting, The Academy at Old Cockrill School is a step away from such requirements. This was done in order to offer a place of refuge for those who find the more traditional setting and class schedules nearly impossible to work with, yet understand the importance and value of completing their high school education.
The requirements for eligibility here at The Academy at Old Cockrill School differ slightly from the traditional area schools. In order for a student to be admitted they must be between the ages of 17-21 currently in their fourth year or no longer enrolled in school with need for 8 or less core course credits required for a Tennessee diploma. They must also prove have the grit and determination necessary to complete high school by way of no suspensions of 10 or more days per school year with no history of truancy on record as well. If your child meets all of these requirements and is looking for a less traditional school house setting in which they can thrive, then The Academy at Old Cockrill School will be the perfect place for them to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals of high school graduation.
