The Gulch Past News

Magic Johnson and his investment group announced a significant cash investment into The Gulch project and downtown Nashville.

"We're bringing a lot of money, almost $100 million, with $68 million to the project, and we're actually excited about it," Johnson said in the press conference on October 11, 2017.

When asked why the group had chosen Nashville, Johnson simply said: "It's a perfect fit."

He also said, "First of all it's a great city, it's a growing city when you look at the opportunities, and we hadn't invested anything in the state and in Nashville, so it made sense... The growth the next five years in Nashville is going to be an unbelievable city it's just growing and growing and growing."

Nashville is just one of the many business ventures that Johnson's empire has developed throughout the country.

The investment here in downtown Nashville and the Gulch will help raise the profile among all the other Johnson brands that will again add to the appeal and perception of Nashville as a cosmopolitan city and dynamic housing market and destination from the residents and the rest of the nation alike.

"Some of the Magic brands will look to see where the opportunity is, and hopefully we can do that," Johnson said.

The Gulch Rebirth

The Gulch is a $400 million dollar project that includes a mix of retail space, offices, and housing. It has been masterminded by the Nashville Urban Venture LLC.
