What is the Gulch?
The Gulch is an area of approximately 30 acres of sublime downtown realestate. It is located near to Division Street and 12th Avenue South. It is rapidly growing to become a mixture of Urban development, with high end living, retail, offices, restaurants and bars.
The Gulch will be a Hub all to itself and yet, it is only moments away from other established areas such as Broadway, West End Avenue, Music Row and Hillsboro Village.
Latest News on the Gulch
Magic Johnson and his investment group announced a major cash investment into the Gluch and downtown Nashville.
“We're bringing a lot of money, almost a $100 million, $68 million to the project and we're actually excited about it,” Johnson said in the press conference 10/11/07.
When asked why the group had chosen Nashville, Johnson said "it’s a perfect fit."
He also said, “First of all it's a great city, it's a growing city when you look at the opportunities, and we hadn't invested anything in the state and in Nashville so it made sense… The growth the next five years in Nashville is going to be an unbelievable city it's just growing and growing, and growing.”
Nashville is just one of business ventures that Johnson’s empire has developed throughout the country.
The investment here in downtown Nashville and the Gulch will help raise the profile amongst all the other Johnson brands that will again add to the appeal and perception of Nashville as a cosmopolitan city from the residents and the rest of the nation alike.
“Some of the Magic brands we'll look to see where the opportunity is and hopefully we can do that,” Johnson said.
The Rebirth of the Gulch
The Gulch is a $400 million dollar project that has been masterminded by the Nashville Urban Venture LLC. They have been slowly accumulating ownership of the Gulch area for over 10yrs and have now taken the plunge to develop what was once a mass of abandoned buildings and a railway yard, into a tremendously balanced Urban Community.

Well so far on the map for entertainment, you will find the likes of Sambuca and Watermark restaurants, Ru Sans Sushi bar, Bar23, City Hall, Station Inn and Adagio Massage and Company.
