Kick Off the Month with Community and Flowers

August opens with two very different vibes: a free family expo and a jaw-dropping floral art show.

The National Urban League Community & Family Day Expo lands at the Music City Center on Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's free, family-friendly, and packed with things to do. There’s a backpack and school supply giveaway, a college fair, free health screenings, a Black-owned marketplace, and live entertainment on the main stage all day long.

Across town, Cheekwood is transforming its gardens and historic mansion into a set piece worthy of prestige television. Fleurs de Villes: The Gilded Age runs from the very end of July through August 9 and reimagines the world of HBO's The Gilded Age through elaborate fresh-flower mannequins.

A few standout add-ons during the run:

• Summer Soirée (July 31): an evening kickoff with cocktails and floral artistry
• Gilded Garden (Aug 1): a hands-on pressed-flower workshop

Tomato Art Fest Takes Over East Nashville

If there's one weekend that captures Nashville's love of the weird and wonderful, it's Tomato Art Fest, happening Friday and Saturday, August 7–8, in East Nashville's Five Points.

Now in its 23rd year, this free festival has grown into one of the city's most beloved traditions, drawing tens of thousands for costumed parades, live music, food trucks, and more than 300 tomato-inspired art pieces on display. Costumes are encouraged, puns are guaranteed, and the whole thing is free to attend.

A Different Kind of Thrill After Dark

While the Adventure Science Center is normally a great place to go with kids, this August it's hosting an event that's just for those 21+. Way Late Play Date: Camp Fear on Friday, August 7, from 7–10 p.m. digs into the psychology and biology of fear through interactive science exhibits, a cocktail bar, and planetarium shows. It's not a haunted house—no jumpscares, thankfully!—but organizers promise it'll stick with you.

Tickets are $40 per person and include access to all exhibit galleries, interactive experiences to tackle your biggest fears, and planetarium shows.

Fairgrounds Nashville: A Different Expo Almost Every Weekend

World Oddities Expo (Aug 8–9)

A traveling festival for collectors of the strange, with taxidermy, macabre art, live tattooing from Villain Arts, workshops, and live entertainment including burlesque and live painting. Single-day general admission tickets start at $20.

Nashville Vintage Market (Aug 8)

Villain Arts Tattoo Festival (Aug 14–16)

A three-day celebration of body art bringing together tattoo artists from around the country for live tattooing, browsing, and people-watching. One-day passes are $20, while three-day passes are $40.

All American Reptile and Plant Expo (Aug 28–30)

My Chemical Romance: The Black Parade 2026 Tour rolls into Nissan Stadium on August 13, with Pierce The Veil in support. The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of the band's landmark album, The Black Parade, and follows a run that sold more than 450,000 tickets across North America.

Over at Bridgestone Arena, PBR: Team Series brings professional bull riding to downtown Nashville August 14–16, part of the tour's 40-plus stops leading up to the World Finals in Las Vegas.

Starting August 20 and running through September 20, the Nashville Shakespeare Festival presents A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Centennial Park Bandshell on Thursdays to Sundays.
