Located in beautiful West Nashville, Abintra Montessori School is all about helping children develop confidence, and become self-motivated learners who have the courage to rise up and meet the challenges of life with creativity. They cater to children from 2 years old all the way up to middle school.
Abintra opened in 1981 and it was the first Montessori elementary program in Nashville. It is an independent, nonprofit, educational organization started by a small group of parents who wanted their children to receive a quality education based on the educational continuum of Dr. Maria Montessori.
Dr. Maria Montessori believed educators should allow the child to lead, observe the child to determine their needs, prepare the right learning environment, give support to the child, respect the individuality of every child and trust in the inner workings of every child.
In 1981, when Abintra first opened its doors, it had a total of 9 students. Now, over 30 years later, its programs are able to serve 150 students every year. They have certainly come a long ways from just 9 students.
Goals for Learning
Every day Abintra provides students with a carefully prepared learning environment. The learning environment involves a community of learners as well as a wide variety of quality materials.
Abintra Montessori School has one primary goal and that is to help all children reach their full potential. Not just academically, but in every area of their life. This is done by offering programs that help children grow socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively.
When all four of these components are addressed, students are better prepared for any academic endeavors they choose to take on in the future.
