Zoovie Night Featuring Zootopia

The Labor Day Weekend kicks off in Nashville with the Zoovie Night Featuring Zootopia at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. This family-friendly event is open to people of all ages, and will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, August 31. Festivities begin in the early evening with bouncing inflatables and lawn games on the Festival Field. A DJ will be playing music and there will be face painting as well as access to the carousel and zip line. Some activities require an additional fee. The movie will begin at sunset. Zoo members will be able to enjoy this event for free, while non-members will pay $6 per person after 6 p.m. Participants should note that the animal exhibits close after 6 p.m. and everyone in attendance must stay in the Festival Field area.

6th Annual Labor Day Parade and Celebration

In the spirit of the holiday weekend, the Central Labor Council, TN AFL-CIO, Nashville Building Trades Council and Middle TN Jobs with Justice are hosting the 6th Annual Labor Day Parade and Celebration. This event is designed to showcase union pride throughout the community, and will highlight the role that workers have played throughout history in the Nashville area. The parade begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 1 at Cumberland Park. Following the parade is a festival, which lasts until 3 p.m. Festival goers will enjoy bounce house inflatables and a corn hole tournament, as well as music and fellowship. 

5th Annual Old School BBQ Festival

Those who want to spend their Labor Day Weekend enjoying amazing food and award-winning music won't want to miss the 5th Annual Old School BBQ Festival. This festival will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 2 at Scenic Riverfront Park in Downtown Nashville. Attendees will find an endless supply of traditional soul cooking, as well as a concert lineup that cannot be beat. It is a family-friendly event that is open to people of all ages. Guests are encouraged to show up early and stay all day. Performances begin at 4 p.m. and people should plan on bringing their own lawn chairs to sit back, relax and enjoy the festival.

Fireworks at Nashville Shores

Fireworks are the quintessential summer celebration, so it makes sense to cap off the Labor Day Weekend with a glittering display. Nashville Shores will host a Labor Day Fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 2. Waterpark season pass holders will be able to enjoy the fireworks at no additional cost. The fireworks show also is included with a day pass to the water park. The water park is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and those who wish to see the fireworks can stay after for the show.
