New reports have surfaced about D.R. Horton, the country’s largest residential homebuilder, purchasing a 32.5 acre site in suburban Antioch for $1.2 million, which will be used to develop a new community that will contain 120 single-family homes.
Plans for the new 120 home development, which sits just northeast of Murfreesboro Pike, were originally approved by the Metro Planning Commission last month, although a review of construction drawings is still on-going before building permits will be issued.
Traditionally, major homebuilders like D.R. Horton purchase much larger homesites in order to develop communities with significantly more homes, but given Nashville’s shortage of lots, most are forced to acquire smaller sites much like what was just purchased in Antioch.
As of now, further details regarding D.R. Horton’s new Antioch community have yet to be released, which includes a possible construction start and end date.
