Portland is found just south of the Kentucky border and provides a home for about 11,000 residents. This is a hot destination found just off Interstate 65 and has been growing over the past few years. This middle Tennessee city hosts one of the best Strawberry Festivals in the country every May, along with plenty of other events.

Those looking to move to the middle Tennessee area with a preference to live outside of Nashville, may find Portland as a good home. However, this is also a great place to visit throughout the year if you decide to live in Nashville.

Nashville is a city full of things happening and it doesn't matter what time of year, there's an event or festival scheduled for just about everybody. November is no exception and here are some of the top events that will be held throughout the month.

El Dia de Los Muertos - November 2nd

This is a celebration popular in the Latin American culture. It will be held at Cheekwood on Saturday, November 2nd and will include many live performances and activities from 11am to 5pm. Regular gate fees apply to non-members.

Restaurant inspections are done throughout Nashville to give consumers an idea of how safe and clean each restaurant is for their dining needs. The inspections are done by the Metro Public Health Department and all of the food service establishments are inspected throughout the year.


Scores are based on an FDA-approved 44-poin food service inspection process. Weighted point values are used and each critical item is assigned a value of four or five. Some of the less critical times are assigned a one or two point weighted scale. The highest score an establishment can achieve is a 100.

Establishments receiving a 69 or below fail the inspection. When this happens, they must be re-inspected within ten days. If the score is below 70 two times in a

Richland Creek Greenway

As one of the best trails in the area and only four miles from downtown, the Richland Creek Greenway is a great place for walking and hiking. However, this isn't a true hiking trail and won't provide a huge challenge, if that's what you're after. The greenway provides paved trails, measuring nearly four miles and plenty of nature to enjoy.

If you're looking for a great show, date night or a chance to get away from the kids, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center is the perfect place for you. TPAC provides four venues, the James K. Polk Theater, Andrew Johnson Theater, Ware Memorial Auditorium and Andrew Jackson Hall. All of these venues provide excellent live shows, education programs and more.

Three performing arts organizations provide the entertainment, including the Nashville Opera, Nashville Ballet and the Tennessee Repertory Theatre. They provide all different types of shows including a series of Broadway Shows, throughout the year.
