About Lebanon Real Estate
Named for the Biblical land of cedars, Lebanon real estate has a long and rich history. It was home to native Americans for thousands of years, offering a plenitude of game in its cedar forests and cane brakes. Authorized as a town in 1801, Lebanon has been a growing center for commerce and activity ever since. It was a prominent spot for culture in the nineteenth century, referred to as "one of the prettiest of Tennessee's country towns". It was and is home to Cumberland University, opened in 1842. The War Between the States raged here, too, but left enough of the historic Town Square to remain today as a home for antique and gift shops.
Lebanon has a mostly Protestant population, with about 22,000 residents. It occupies 583 square miles and is about 28 miles east of Nashville. Lebanon real estate is serviced by a municipal airport, 2 bowling alleys, 2 nurisng homes, a theater, a coutry club, 3 golf courses, a library, and 87 restaurants.
