The Rites of Spring is an event that was created in the 1960s and 1970s by Vanderbilt faculty, students and administrators. It started as a community outreach program and became the student-formed "Free University". This led to the first campus-wide event called the Rites of Spring Music Festival, which was held in 1971.
Rites of Spring includes plenty of music with the Battle of the Bands, all kinds of food and plenty of fun. It's one of the most popular events held every April
