This December you have to check out The Music City Bowl in Nashville. It’s the annual celebration of entertainment and the post-season football game to stimulate a positive impact on community pride, the Nashville economy and national image.
It will take place on December 30th at the LP Field for visitors, student-athletes, local fans, sponsors, conference partners, volunteers and the Nashville community in general. Here is a look at what will go down at The Music City Bowl later this month.
The LP Field will be the location for this year’s Music City Bowl. They are located at 1 Titans Way, a 105 acre stretch along the Cumberland River’s east bank. It’s across the water from the heart of Nashville’s downtown. It’s actually been around since August of 1999 and is one of two open-air stadiums in the AFC South. They have 175 private suits, 12,000 club seats and over 2,000 trees planted on the stadium’s property.
LP Field is most known for the most famous and controversial play by Kevin Dyson. He took a Frank Wycheck lateral on a kickoff and with only 16 seconds left, a 75 yard return in for a touchdown which brought the Titans to a 22-16 victory. This was during the AFC Wild Card playoff game vs. the Bills. They’ve referred to this as the “Music City Miracle.”
What to Expect
The event at LP Field will take place on December 30th at 2pm. It costs $75 to attend. They will be showcasing the long-lived partnership between the Southeastern Conference, SEC, and Atlantic Coast Conference, ACC, by introducing a third conference partner in Nashville, Big Ten.
The Bowl will be televised on ESPN and the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl and TaxSlayer Bowl agreed to share selections with the ACC and Big Ten Conference to provide an opponent through 2019 to the SEC.
The introduction of the College Football Playoff marks a new era in college football with the 2014-2015 season. This Bowl game is also kicking off a new era. This is the 17th year for the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
