Lewisburg is excited to announce the Goats Music and More Festival coming to the area this year on October 10th and 11th. The festival has been around for 12 years and offers a great time with no cost to the public. The festival is catering to families and guests of all ages, and will provide music and fun activities. You don’t want to miss this year’s festival experience.

How did the festival come about?

The festival started as a way to honor goats and the famous native “fainting” goat. The Fainting goat and the Boer goat are what the festival is centered around.

Fainting goats almost became extinct in the 80s but today are thriving. They become stiff-legged and sometimes fall over when startled, although it’s not harmful to the goats.

Boer goats came from South Africa and were eventually brought to eh US in the 90s. It has a muscular body and a reddish-brown colored head.
