This festival is one which could only ever be based in Nashville. After all what better location could you choose for a songwriters festival than to have it in Music City? For a whole 5 days from April 2nd - 6th 2013 more than 10,000 people will come to Nashville to see over 300 different songwriters perform almost 100 shows at 10 different venues around the city. 2013 also marks the 21st year of this annual celebration of songwriting so that makes it that little bit extra special - kind of a like a coming-of-age for the festival itself.
Not only is this festival hugely popular, for a variety of reasons, but it's also the largest and best of its type anywhere in the world. Unlike many other music festivals where the acts get up on stage, perform, thank you and then leave, the Tin Pan South Festival is a far more intimate affair. You get to see some truly talented artists perform songs that went on to become hits, hear the stories behind the songs and then you get to hear the song as it was originally written. This is like being in the artists home with them and seeing their entire creative process from start to finish and getting a real insight into what makes any musician or songwriter tick.
The venues for 2013 so far are Douglas Corner Café, Hard Rock Café, The Listening Room, Belcourt Taps and Tapas, Bluebird Café, Commodore Grille, The Rutledge, The Station Inn and Winners. We could spend all day listing the artists who are due to perform at the Tin Pan South 2013, so all you need to know for now is that you can expect the usual "legends" to turn up and for there to be lots of new musical talent to admire and enjoy too.
You have a choice of either getting a Fast Access pass, which provides access to every venue in the festival, or you can pay anywhere from $8 to $20 on the door for each gig. The choice is yours!
