Even though Nashville isn't a city you'd instantly identify as being one where golf is popular you'll be surprised to find that it is. In fact several of the parks in the city have golf courses of varying sizes within them. On top of that the city and county planners have made an ongoing commitment to maintaining as many green spaces as possible, both within downtown Nashville and in the suburbs, and the existence of a number of excellent golf courses in the area is just part of that overall plan.
Here are some of the best golf courses Nashville has to offer:
Richland Country Club
The 18-hole "Richland" course at this club was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Richard Jacobson so you know you'll get to enjoy a challenging round of golf whenever you play here. There are over 6,800 yards of course to play on, with a par of 72. This course is consistently rated as one of the best in the city by all who visit it.
Belle Meade Country Club
This course first opened in 1901 and has been a popular choice with golfers in the city and elsewhere in the country since then. The 18-holes of the "Belle Meade" course have more than 7,600 yards of golf to play on with a course par of 72. The course itself features Bermuda grass, was designed by Donald J. Ross and has a slope rating of 136. Even if you're a very skilled golfer you'll find Belle Meade a challenge when you play here.
McCabe Golf Course
This course was designed by Gary Roger Baird and first opened in 2006. The 18-holes of the "South Nine" course feature everything you'll have grown to love about playing golf in Tennessee. The course itself features Bermuda grass and is a golf only facility.
The above are just our own personal favorites when it comes to golfing in Nashville and we're sure that you'll like them as much as we do.
