Many neighborhoods in the south made it onto the Southern Living list of the South's Best Comeback Neighborhoods including East Nashville. This is a high honor for any neighborhood trying to improve its livability and attract new residents. Here's why East Nashville made the list.
East Nashville prides itself on the large number of families moving to the neighborhoods. Many have chosen to move here in order to shorten their commute to work. The historic Victorian homes are beautiful and many of them have been remodeled with modern amenities and features.
The neighborhood has slowly been on the rise for over a decade and finally has made it to the status it deserves. This artsy and eclectic area provides a home for many newcomers and a mix of different types of residents. It's even been called "Nashville's version of New York's East Village," by Budget Travel Magazine.
This historic neighborhood provides a number of local businesses and it's known as the Bank Business District, as well. The area is thriving and growing as it has become one of the most desirable areas in the city. Many excellent restaurants, eclectic shops and vintage businesses are found throughout the area.
Other Comeback Neighborhoods found on the list include:
- Springfield - Jacksonville, FL
- North Chattanooga - Chattanooga, TN
- Wilmore/South End - Charlotte, NC
- Historic Fairmount - Fort Worth, TX
- Phelps Grove - Springfield, MO
- Patterson Park - Baltimore, MD
- Crescent Hill - Louisville, KY
- Viola - Greenville, SC
- Holy Cross - New Orleans, LA
All of these neighborhoods made the list because of their efforts to revitalize the community. Many were once known as top neighborhoods, but had fallen off the map before recovering over the past decade. East Nashville has certainly recovered and the moms pushing children in strollers down the sidewalk is a sign the area is finally back to where it once was.
