Fun Events in May in Nashville, TN

Springtime is wonderful time to experience the sights and sounds of Music City. The month of May brings forth opportunities to attend a variety of fun gatherings in and around town, and here are some of the best events in Nashville to mark on the calendar.

Tennessee Craft Fair

This annual event occurs in early May and mid-October annually and brings more than 200 artists and exhibitors to Nashville for a three day juried craft fair. More than 45,000 people attend the Tennessee Craft Fair over the course of the three-day festival. Visitors can buy artwork and crafts, view artist demonstrations, participate in art creation and enjoy other family fun. Come out to Centennial Park for this free festival with friends and family, and the 2019 dates are May 3-5 and Oct. 11-13.

Cajun Fest

Amber Falls' annual Cajunfest is just around the corner on Saturday May 26th. Treat yourself to a day immersed in authentic cajun culture and finger-lickin-good cajun food. It's a great place to bring your family, too, as there'll be all sorts of entertainment throughout the day, from crawfish races to live music and more.

Annual Broadway Brunch at City Winery

This annual fundraiser is hosted by Nashville Rep's and benefits the Nashville Repertory Theatre, which benefits the community through creative and thought-provoking theatrical endeavors year round. The Broadway Brunch is by far the hippest musical brunch in the state and features food, bottomless beverages, a live auction and live performances by local theatrical talent. Ticket prices range between $150-$300 for admission. The 2019 Broadway Brunch is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, 2019 11 am - 1:30 pm and valet parking is complimentary.

Memorial Day Weekend Celebrations

With Fort Campbell right around the corner, there are plenty of ways to express your patriotism this Memorial Day. You can attend the True American Heroes exhibit, swing by Opryland's Weekend Celebration, or attend the 101st Airborne weekend cookout. Honor the brave fallen through celebration of what they all fought for – Having a place to call home.

The Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival

A short distance away in downtown Portland the Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival brings a bit of sweetness to the month of May. This is a family friendly annual event with events like the Middle Tennessee Strawberry Pageant, a golf tournament, a wresting event and a carnival going on before the main festival day even arrives.

The day of the main festivities begins with a pancake breakfast and a 5K fun run. Vendors offering crafts, foods and more will open early, as well. Around 11 am, live music and the carnival get cranking and the local vendors bring out their juicy, farm-fresh strawberries for sale. There is a strawberry themed parade, free concert and a fireworks show to wrap up the event.

Tennessee Renaissance Festival

One of Nashville's more eclectic festivals, the annual Renaissance Festival is going to be held every weekend in May including Memorial Day. A real live joust is just one of the many events throughout the festival. You'll also enjoy perusing a unique assortment of foods and wares, all accompanied by the minstrels' thrums of medieval-era music. Kids under 5 get in free!

Iroquois Steeplechase

The Iroquois Steeplechase is an annual event that takes place the second week of May at Percy Warner Park in Nashville. As one of the premier horse races in springtime, the Iroquois Steeplechase draws in over 25,000 eager spectators dressed in their finest duds and oversized hats. Some of the best equestrians from around the world participate in multiple races during the day, and proceeds from this charity-driven event go to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and other select non-profits.

Annual Margarita Festival

Another must-attend May event in Nashville is the Annual Margarita Festival at Walk of Fame Park. Sponsored by the master tequila makers at Don Julio and Nashville Scene, this adult-only gathering in downtown is favored by margarita lovers from across the state and beyond. With a ticket purchase, attendees will receive 15 margarita sample from the city's best mixologists and can vote for their favorites while enjoying DJs rocking the park. Food and additional drinks can be purchased, as well. The 2019 date for the Annual Margarita Festival is Saturday, May 18th.
