Sevier Park residents excitedly welcome the idea of a new community center, but what exactly is the center going to be bringing to the community?
The surrounding neighborhoods will get the privilege of enjoying a brand new four point six million dollar community center. This is part of an effort to rebuild aging community centers all over Davidson County.
This community center was opened in early June. Area District 17 councilwoman Sandra Moore and Mayor Karl Dean had the honor of cutting the ribbon to this brand new facility. This community center’s opening comes years after similar community centers were built in other counties. New community centers were built in McCabe, Hartman, Hadley, Coleman, and East Parks over the past few years.
Features and Amenities of the New Community Center
Good health is important for a thriving community. If the citizens of a community are in poor health, then they can’t be productive citizens. They can’t do things that makes a city a great place to live. This new Community Center will provide a lot of fitness activities for residents.
Fitness Activities Offered at the New Community Center
Several fitness classes are planned for this brand new community center. Residents will be able to take Pilates classes and participate in yoga and Zumba classes. A boot camp and a cardio class using lightly weighted drumsticks will also be available. The community center includes a gym with a track overlooking it.
Future Plans for the Community Center
Seniors are not the only ones that will benefit from this brand new facility. Plans are underway to add programs for youth. There are plans in the works to offer summer programs. Kids will be able to take classes in dance, art, basketball, and tennis. After school programs are being planned for the fall.
