June 10, 2010 (Franklin, TN) - The Williamson County Association of REALTORS® announces the statistics for home sales in Williamson County, TN for the month of May 2010. There were 318 residential and condominium closings reported during this period according to figures provided by RealTracs Solutions, the multiple listing service used by REALTORS® in the Middle Tennessee region.

 

The number of single-family residential closings increased by over forty-five (45) percent compared to May 2009, while the median sales price experienced an increase of over three (3) percent.  The median is a typical market price where half of all homes sold for more and half sold for less.  The average days on the market (DOM) for residential homes decreased by twelve (12) days compared to the same period last year.

“Home sales during May produced Williamson County’s first increase of the year in median sales price, indicating more activity within our higher price ranges.  This is true even after separating the recent record-breaking sale of Alan Jackson’s home in Franklin.  May 2010 also marks the eighth consecutive month with an increase in the number of homes sold.  This is great news for our local real estate market.  Even with a minor pull-back over the next several months, this momentum keeps us on track for a highly successful 2010” said Karen Baker, 2010 WCAR President.
