Nashville's Friendliest Gay Bars
Posted by Gary Ashton: RE/MAX on Friday, August 3rd, 2012 at 1:22pm.Thanks to its reputation as a somewhat wild kind of party town, Music City is also one of the most gay friendly cities in the country. From state-of-the-art show bars and dance clubs, too outrageous drag shows and cabaret Queens, Nashville is home to some of the hottest and most happening GLBT parts, clubs and bars that you will find anywhere.
Club Blu
Club Blu is one of the newest GLBT venues in the city, having only opened its doors back in 2004. Even so, its location is by no means new to Nashville's GLBT community as its housed in the same building where The World’s End and Jaded Mary's used to be. Club Blu can be found in the heart of Church Street, which is Nashville's most prominent gay district. The club itself is wild, with an awesome sound system and plenty of dance tracks including hip-hop and urban - guaranteed to satisfy Nashville's African American crowd
Blue Genes 37203
Located right next door to the iconic Club Blu, Blue Genes is nevertheless miles apart from its near neighbor when it comes to atmosphere and style. Here, you'll find a much more relaxed environment within its pub style setting. Blue Genes offers the usual – a long bar, standard all tables, dark balls, TV sets showing live sports, as well as a small stage for the occasional live performance. If you're looking for somewhere to hang out after work, or you just want a few quiet drink somewhere without any pretence, Blue Genes is the place to come.
Canvas Lounge
If you want to be made to feel special, you'll fit right in at the Canvas Lounge. The ambience at this venue is second to none, with its funky the core and bright colors, great music and friendly clientele, there are few places easier to relax and soak up the good vibes.
The Lipstick Lounge
The Lipstick Lounge has a reputation for being no ordinary GLTG hangout. With walls painted a rich and deep red, lined with weird and wonderful contemporary art, this place is easily one of the more eclectic hangouts in the East Nashville. For the most part, the lipstick lounge is geared towards a female lesbian crowd, however, the climate is very sociable and hip, the clientele extremely friendly, with lots of entertainment going on in the form of live performers and DJs.
