The South is known for serious love for sports. They love spectator sports and outdoor sports, and plan their lives around these schedules. From planning wedding dates to planning family dinner, it’s always being planned around their spectator sports and hunting season.

What is Nashville like in the fall when it comes to sports and the way they live around these activities?

Nashville takes sports seriously

Nashville plans everything around their favorite sports, whether it is spectator sports or hunting and fishing season. Even vacations and job interviews will be scheduled around these activities. Here is a look at their favorite spectator sports and outdoors sports that they take seriously.

Outdoors-man Sports

Since Nashville is full of wooded areas to enjoy being outdoors, it’s a big city for doing outdoors-type activities. Their wooded acreage covers hundreds of thousands of acres. They even see many tourists come just to take advantage of the great location. This means the outdoors is full of tourists, true southern outdoors-men and what they call “fly by rednecks.”

The ones visiting from out of town typically will appear lost, since they don’t know the land too well. However, the “fly by rednecks” will not appear lost. They know the land better and are treating the sports of hunting and fishing as a relaxing activity that includes a few alcoholic beverages.

The true southern outdoors-men are simply out there for the love of the sport. They aren’t drinking alcohol because they are too focused on their sport. They are hunting and fishing and know exactly where they are going.

These locals also tend to carry Bass Pro Shops gear. Another reason they stand out, these men of Nashville are also members of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. They will avoid these out of town folks and rednecks because they are not treating their sport as a game. They are only hunting or fishing if they plan to eat or donate the animal.

Spectator Sports

In addition to hunting and fishing, Nashville residents take their sports teams very seriously. College football is a priority, and their teams include Vanderbilt University, University of Tennessee and Tennessee State. They also pay close attention to the Tennessee Titans in the NFL.

Whether you live in Nashville or you just visit, this is how life is like during the fall sports season.
