If you're making plans for the next few weeks and you're looking for something fun, yet helpful to do, you can participate in the 9th Annual Ellie's Run for Africa. This fundraiser happens once a year and comes from Ellie Ambrose. She was only 10 years old when she decided to make it her mission to help the children of Africa receive an education. It only took a few pictures of the situation in Africa to influence her compassionate heart.

This event does more than just raise money. It's a great time to come together as a community, share in the big dreams of the event and make something happen. You have the opportunity to run in this race and help those children in Africa. You can become an "Ellie's Run Hero" with your contribution and add to the $410,000 already raised to help thousands of children get the education they need. All the funds from this event will go to support the African Leadership Inc.

You don't even have to run in the event to help. If you'd rather sleep in or do something else, you can still donate online. However, those looking to run and participate can do so, as well. Just sign up for the event, which will happen on May 18th. IT will start at 1st Avenue and travel to Broadway. The race will start at 7:30am and the Kid's 1-Mile Fun Run will start at 8:30am.

Registration is $30 for individuals, $50 for couples or $70 for families, if you register before the day of the event. Race day, the fees go up by $10 for all. Garage parking will be provided free of charge and your entry includes your race packet, t-shirt, breakfast and refreshments. All participants will also receive admission to the other parts of the event, including African food sampling and performances.
