Watertown, Tennessee is a town that first came to be in the late 1700s. It’s a small community located in southeastern Wilson County near the DeKalb and Smith County lines.  The county of Wilson is the second highest median income in the state and is in Tennessee’s top five for most affluent counties. Here is what life is like in the town of Watertown, Tennessee.

Things to Do

In Watertown, Tennessee, you will find plenty of businesses and things to do. There are a city library located downtown on public square and a drive-in theatre that is very popular among locals. People from neighboring communities visit just to enjoy the drive-in theatre. There are dozens of businesses situated in Watertown including family-owned businesses and franchises like Subway and Dollar General.

Watertown holds an annual Jaz Festival that is a popular tradition. The town has also had some Hollywood encounters, for example, Taylor Swift filmed her music video for “Safe & Sound” in a Watertown forest. The movie Dark Harvest 3: Skarecrow was filmed in Watertown. Darius Rucker filmed his music video for “Wagon Wheel” in Watertown and Justin Bieber filmed his music video in Watertown for the song “One Less Lonely Girl.”

The County

According to the 2010 US Census, Watertown has 1,477 people. Wilson County was established 1799 and it is 571 square miles in size. It got the name Wilson County for Revolutionary War hero Major David Wilson who was also a North Carolina legislature.

Other cities in Wilson County include Mount Juliet and Lebanon. Lebanon continues to expand while Mount Juliet is one of the fastest growing communities in the state. The median household income for the city is around $35,662 and $41,484 for families.

While Watertown, TN is a small town, it’s full of history, it continues to grow, and it’s a great place for families to raise their children.
