Restaurant inspections are done throughout Nashville to give consumers an idea of how safe and clean each restaurant is for their dining needs. The inspections are done by the Metro Public Health Department and all of the food service establishments are inspected throughout the year.

Scoring

Scores are based on an FDA-approved 44-poin food service inspection process. Weighted point values are used and each critical item is assigned a value of four or five. Some of the less critical times are assigned a one or two point weighted scale. The highest score an establishment can achieve is a 100.

Establishments receiving a 69 or below fail the inspection. When this happens, they must be re-inspected within ten days. If the score is below 70 two times in a
