History buffs will appreciate visiting Belmont Mansion, a historic home built between 1849 and 1860. The mansion is the largest home built in Tennessee prior to the Civil War and now gives visitors insight into how the wealthiest people lived at the time. Attractions like the Nashville Zoo are close by, as well as other major attractions in the city.

Outdoor activities in Belmont-Hillsboro include visiting nearby parks, walking trails, and bike trails. Fannie Mae Dees Park, also known as “Dragon Park,” features a massive dragon sculpture decorated with over 1,000 mosaic tiles crafted by local residents. The sculpture honors Fannie Mae, who rallied to keep the space open during a major urban renewal project in the 1970s, and it’s now a public park. Residents can enjoy a nice afternoon picnic in the open fields or enjoy a game of tennis at the tennis courts. There are also playgrounds for kids to enjoy and an accessible play area called Lily’s Garden.

Sevier Park features a walking path, tennis courts, a basketball court, a playground, lots of shade trees, a creek, and a community center.

  • Another barbecue restaurant, Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint in Belmont, is a beloved space where residents can enjoy delicious, made-from-scratch meals.
  • Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream serves a variety of sweet frozen treats.
  • Fido’s is an organic coffee bar established in 1996 that now serves delicious meats, cheese, dairy, and local produce in addition to its popular coffee offerings.

West End Middle School welcomes 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and offers a variety of extracurricular activities and athletics. High school students in the neighborhood may attend Hillsboro High. Parents may also choose to enroll their children in one of many schools throughout the Metro Nashville Public Schools district based on the current zone map.

There are also several private schools available, including Christ the King School, serving pre-K through 8th grade; Lipscomb Academy Upper School for grades 9 through 12; and Belmont Weekday School, a private preschool. For higher education, Belmont University is within the neighborhood itself, and many students apply here from several south Nashville suburbs. Aside from Belmont University, other incredibly close universities include Vanderbilt University and Lipscomb University.
